After concluding his stay in Beijing, Macron flew to Chengdu, Sichuan in the evening.
Macron is in China for a state visit from April 3rd to 5th. After meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping on the morning of the 4th, he met separately with Li Qiang and Zhao Leji in the afternoon.
According to information released by the Chinese side, during his meeting with Macron, Li Qiang stated that as major global economies and permanent members of the United Nations Security Council, China and France maintain close strategic communication and coordinated, effective actions. This is not only beneficial for the joint development of both countries, but also injects more stability and certainty into today's world marked by changes and turmoil.
According to the Chinese side, Macron said that France is willing to strengthen exchanges and dialogue at all levels with China, expand two-way openness and mutual investment, and deepen cooperation in areas such as the economy and trade, agriculture, aerospace, aviation, civil nuclear energy, and renewable energy. The two sides can jointly explore third-party markets. France is willing to work with China to uphold free trade and the multilateral trading system and promote the reform and improvement of the global governance system.
During his meeting with Macron, Zhao Leji stated that the National People's Congress of China is willing to maintain close exchanges and interactions at various levels with both chambers of the French Parliament, share experiences in legislation, oversight, and other areas, and provide legal guarantees for pragmatic cooperation between the two countries. Macron expressed willingness to deepen pragmatic cooperation with China, strengthen exchanges between legislative bodies, jointly address global challenges, and continuously promote the balanced development of China-France relations.
This is Macron's fourth state visit to China. In addition to Beijing, he has continued the tradition of visiting other cities. On previous visits to China, he has visited Xi'an, Shanghai, and Guangzhou.
