On the 18th, Myanmar President Min Aung Hlaing met with Russian President Putin at the Kremlin to exchange views on strengthening bilateral relations and cooperation in various fields.
This is Min Aung Hlaing's sixth official visit to Moscow since the 2021 Myanmar coup, and his first visit to Moscow since taking office as civilian president.
Min Aung Hlaing told Putin: "Currently, the relationship between our two countries is developing rapidly. Thank you to Russia and to you personally for your support. We have achieved many results on the international stage... Myanmar is Russia's reliable partner in Southeast Asia."
Putin said that the two countries actively cooperate on the international stage and that security relations are developing, while economic cooperation still requires effort.
He said: "You have a very tight schedule during this visit, and I believe we will certainly have the opportunity to discuss all these issues."
Earlier, Russian Prime Minister Mishustin said during his meeting with Min Aung Hlaing that Russia is pushing forward the implementation of agreements related to building a small-scale nuclear power plant in Myanmar.
In February this year, Myanmar and Russia signed a five-year military cooperation agreement, but the details of the agreement have not been disclosed.
