Fake accident, real robbery; motorcycle robbers staged two fake car accidents within half an hour in the same area. They tricked the car owners into alighting to check their vehicles, seizing the opportunity to snatch necklaces and flee. The police are currently tracking the robbers' whereabouts.
One female victim shared in a social media post that she and her husband were leaving a chain store in Setia Alam, Selangor, on Thursday afternoon (10th) when a motorcyclist pretended to accuse them of a collision and took the chance to rob them.
She said, 'At the moment of being robbed, I was really stunned,' but fortunately, neither of them was harmed.
When reporting the incident, they encountered another young victim and learned that they too had encountered the same robber in the same area within half an hour.
She mentioned that later, when they went to another location, they saw the same robber lingering in the vicinity; however, the robber fled in time and couldn't be pursued.
She shared the dashcam video to remind the public to stay vigilant.
According to the dashcam footage, the incident occurred at 1:26 PM that day. The video went viral online and sparked widespread discussion.
Shah Alam District Deputy Superintendent Ibah issued a statement noting that a 35-year-old Chinese businessman and his wife were robbed in front of the supermarket by a Malay man on a red Yamaha 135LC motorcycle, who claimed the car was in a collision. The front of the car was also damaged.
He said the victim got out to check when the motorcyclist suddenly approached, grabbed the necklace, and fled. The victim was unharmed, but suffered a loss of 11,000 MYR.
The police have initiated an investigation under Section 392 of the Penal Code (Robbery) and are pursuing the suspect.
Informants are urged to contact Investigating Officer Sergeant Mohamad Nadzri Uddin (012-3848103) or the Shah Alam District Police Headquarters (03-5520 2222).
