As Part of Security Assurance, Ukraine Plans to Purchase 380 Billion Ringgit Worth of US-made Weapons

Ukrainian President Zelensky revealed to the media after meeting with US President Trump and a group of European leaders at the White House that the security assurance plan discussed at the meeting consists of two parts: Ukraine purchasing US weapons worth 90 billion US dollars (about 380 billion ringgit), and Ukrainian-manufactured drones.

He pointed out that the matter is still under discussion and no formal agreement has been reached yet, but it is expected to be finalized next week or within 10 days.

Earlier, the UK's Financial Times reported that a document obtained by the newspaper shows that Ukraine has proposed, under the sponsorship of European countries, to purchase US-made weapons worth 100 billion US dollars in hopes of receiving US security assurances after reaching a peace agreement with Russia.

According to the document, Ukraine also proposed to reach a 50 billion US dollar agreement with the US regarding Ukrainian companies producing drones.

The document did not specify which weapons Ukraine might purchase, nor did it outline the procurement and investment situation regarding the drone agreement. Ukraine has previously made it clear that it hopes to buy at least 10 sets of US "Patriot" missile air defense systems.

The document reiterated Ukraine's uncompromising stance on territorial issues and insisted that a ceasefire is the first step to achieving a comprehensive peace agreement.

The Financial Times, citing four informed sources, reported that Ukraine shared the above proposals with European allies before the meeting between the US and Ukrainian presidents on the 18th.
