(Miri, 7th) Miri MP Chiew Choon Man stated that young people are the backbone of social development and hopes more young individuals will shine by actively engaging in social services, providing help and support to more disadvantaged groups.
He hopes that by harnessing the strength of young people, they can work together in social services and make more and greater contributions in the field of social service.
Chiew Choon Man made these remarks while attending a Christmas music gathering event organized by the Miri Community Care Team for the children of the Miri Methodist Children's Home last night.
He pointed out that earlier he suggested forming a guild to gather like-minded young forces, hoping that through an organized platform, more young people could be united to collectively promote social welfare.
“Through the power of a guild, young people can organize more effectively, carry out various social service activities, and invite experienced leaders to act as advisors to help supervise and guide the direction of the guild's development.”
He said the Ministry of Youth and Sports has been committed to encouraging young people to participate in community activities, serving society through collective action. More involvement from young people is needed, whether it's serving in community organizations or directly engaging in public welfare, young people can play a crucial role.
“The establishment of the Miri Community Care Team marks a new milestone in public welfare, and this organization will serve as a platform for young people to showcase their enthusiasm and talents, while also injecting more positive energy into society.”
Chiew Choon Man looks forward to the Miri Community Care Team attracting more young people to join, making greater contributions in the field of social service, and with joint efforts, building Miri into a society filled with more love and care.
