(Kuching, 26th) Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Teach For Malaysia (TFM) to enhance access to quality education resources and improve learning outcomes for students across Sarawak.
This marks SEB’s first collaboration with TFM, where both parties will jointly implement the "Teach For Malaysia Fellowship" program in Sarawak.
Under the first phase of the plan, 13 Fellows will be recruited, trained, and deployed to schools in the Sejingkat area, including SK Bako, SK Muara Tebas, SK Goebilt, SK Kampung Senari, and SK Pajar Sejingkat.

These Fellows will collaborate with teachers to assist in classroom teaching and student development, thereby promoting long-term academic progress.
SEB’s Senior Vice President of Corporate Services, Siti Aisah Adenan, stated that this partnership demonstrates Sarawak Energy’s commitment to supporting education and youth development through social investment.
She said, “Through our collaboration with Teach For Malaysia, we hope to broaden the reach of quality education, improve learning outcomes, and bring tangible impact to students and school communities, especially in the areas where we operate.”

Group Chief Operating Officer James Ung pointed out that the program aligns with the company’s direction to promote long-term community development.
He said, “Efforts like these help build a stronger talent pool for Sarawak, supporting the state’s ongoing goal of becoming a developed and high-income economy.”
On the other hand, TFM Chief Executive Officer Chan Soon Seng stated that the program has the potential to improve educational outcomes for students from disadvantaged communities while nurturing young leaders to enhance schools and community development in the long run.

Recently, SEB also welcomed a 30-member TFM delegation to Menara SEB, as preparation for the program, which included knowledge sharing sessions, discussions on ways to support students and teachers, and an introduction to the company’s sustainability and community initiatives.
In addition, SEB plans to expand the program to other areas near its facilities, such as Batang Ai, continuing its commitment to education and youth development.
This collaboration demonstrates the shared goal of both parties – to create more opportunities for the next generation and strengthen talent development in Sarawak.
