Kuching, 10th -- The Sarawak government plans to raise the value limit for projects implemented by the Sarawak Public Works Department to a higher amount.
Deputy Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Amar Douglas, stated that the Sarawak Engineering Department needs to demonstrate its capability to efficiently and effectively implement projects valued below RM50 million before applying for an increased limit.
“Our Premier has approved our implementation of projects valued below RM50 million. That's why it is crucial for us to complete this RM50 million project on time so that he can seek the implementation of all remaining projects in Sarawak that are valued far above RM50 million.”
Douglas made these remarks while speaking at a dinner event for the Sarawak Public Works Department last night.
Additionally, Sarawak Minister for Infrastructure and Ports Development, Datuk Amar Douglas, added that the state government hopes to ensure that federal infrastructure projects under this category can be fully implemented by the Sarawak Engineering Department.
Meanwhile, he revealed that the Coastal Road Network project has currently achieved 77.9% progress, and the first phase is expected to be completed this year.
“The Second Trunk Road consists of 20 engineering packages with a total value of RM5.58 billion, and the entire project is estimated to be fully completed by 2028.”
