(Kuching, 25th) Datuk Abdullah Saidol, Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department (Corporate Affairs, Information and Sarawak Public Communications Unit), pointed out that through the “Info Fun With UKAS” activity in its outreach program, the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (UKAS) has successfully built a bridge allowing the voices of youths, especially students, to be effectively conveyed to the top ranks of the Sarawak government, providing policy makers with more contemporary references.
He emphasized that the current younger generation has many new needs and "new tastes" in learning and life that differ from previous generations. These voices, which must not be ignored, are important foundations for the government’s future policymaking.
"UKAS is not only an information dissemination unit, but also an important platform for collecting the voices of youths and transmitting their opinions to government leadership. Governance in Sarawak is not just a top-down process, but needs bottom-up feedback as well, so that effective policies can be formulated to truly meet the needs of the new generation."
Speaking at the closing ceremony of the “Info Fun With UKAS” event yesterday, he said that the Sarawak government is pleased to hear the true voices from students and youth communities—whether dreams, aspirations, or concerns and anxieties. All will be earnestly recorded and forwarded to the relevant units for further discussion.
Abdullah Saidol also stated that besides listening to the voices of youths, this event also serves as a platform to disseminate various government policies and initiatives, strengthening youths’ understanding of and participation in government administration.
"Whatever your voices and demands, we will convey them to the decision-makers. No matter which corner of Sarawak you come from, sharing your perspectives on the future is important.”
