(Miri, 6th) Sarawak Transport Minister Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin attended a Program Gotong-royong Komuniti Pasaca Bencana Banjir held at Kampung Pujut Sg. Adong today, assisting local residents in returning to normal life as soon as possible.
Lee Kim Shin stated that the continuous floods had led to the accumulation of a large amount of garbage and debris, affecting the living environment of the residents. Therefore, leveraging community strength, clean-up work was carried out in different areas in batches within a day, with Pujut Adong being the first location. He hopes that this collaborative approach will improve cleaning efficiency and help the affected areas restore cleanliness and safety quickly.
"I recently advocated for mobilizing forces from all sides to quickly start cleaning up to address the environmental issues caused by the floods. Due to limited manpower from the municipal council, community strength has become crucial in the clean-up efforts. Many volunteer organizations have actively responded, including educational institutions and numerous enthusiastic individuals, all participating in cleaning the affected areas. "
Lee Kim Shin also urged Miri residents to maintain the cleanliness of the city and to ensure that garbage is disposed of in the large bins provided by the authorities, avoiding littering to prevent affecting environmental hygiene.
He emphasized that the authorities would take enforcement actions against littering behaviors, hoping that residents will conscientiously cooperate to create a clean and tidy living environment together.
It is reported that over 400 people participated in today's event.
