(Beijing, 16th) Aerospace giant Boeing confirmed on the 15th that during U.S. President Trump's visit to Beijing, China has committed to purchase 200 aircraft, and the deal may eventually expand to include an additional 750 aircraft.
Boeing stated, "Our trip to China has been very successful and achieved our main goal, which is to reopen the Chinese market to accept orders for Boeing aircraft." Boeing CEO Muilenburg was one of the members of the U.S. delegation visiting China.
Boeing said, "This includes the initial commitment for 200 aircraft, and we expect there will be further commitments following this first batch of orders."
When asked which models of aircraft the Chinese side would purchase, Boeing declined to comment.
The last time China placed an order with Boeing was in 2017, when Trump had just begun his first term at the White House and visited Beijing. At that time, China ordered 300 single-aisle and wide-body aircraft, a mega deal worth $37 billion.
