South Korean actor Yoo Ah-in, who was embroiled in a drug scandal in 2023 and received a suspended sentence last July, has confirmed his comeback on the 18th. He appeared at the script reading session for 'Vampire,' a new film directed by Jang Jae-hyun of 'Exhuma'. The cast also includes Lee Sung-min, Lee Joon-hyuk, DOI from the new girl group 'H//PE Princess,' Yoon Kyung-ho, and Choi Hyun-wook.
The 39-year-old Yoo Ah-in was suspected of using at least seven types of drugs, including the so-called 'milk shot' (propofol) and marijuana. In the first trial, he was sentenced to one year in prison and detained in court. In February last year, the second trial granted him a two-year suspended sentence and he was released. In July of the same year, the Supreme Court of South Korea made a final ruling, sentencing him to one year in prison, suspended for two years, with a fine of 2 million won (approximately 5,740 ringgit), thus upholding the previous verdict.
After disappearing from the public eye for three years, Yoo Ah-in has recently been in the news for several comebacks, including an alleged 5-billion-won (about 14.35 million ringgit) contract offer from G-Dragon's agency 'Galaxy Corporation' to sign him, as well as starring in Jang Jae-hyun’s new movie ‘Vampire’. On the 18th, photos from the 'Vampire' script reading were revealed. The film takes on a dark thriller approach, centering on an assassin who takes on a priest's commission and investigates a series of events triggered by a mysterious cult. The film is expected to release in 2028.#
