Volunteers Go to Bakam Nature Reserve: Maintaining Tree Planting Area to Support Ecological Conservation

(Miri, 24th) The Malaysian Red Crescent (BSMM) Miri 43rd Volunteer Aid Team (PBS) and Miri District PBS Committee members held a tree planting area maintenance activity at the Bakam Nature Reserve on the 22nd, continuing to promote the spirit of volunteer service while supporting environmental conservation efforts.

The activity took place on August 22 (Saturday), with a total of 11 BSMM volunteers and 4 PNR staff participating. Together, they maintained the area where trees were previously planted by MRC volunteers, ensuring the area stayed clean and organized, and creating a good environment for the trees to grow.

The volunteers personally took the field, dedicating their time and effort to maintaining the cleanliness and overall condition of the tree planting area. The work carried out that day included weeding and removing wild plants, fertilizing trees, clearing the site, and maintaining the environment around the trees.

This activity demonstrates the service spirit of BSMM volunteers who, in addition to actively participating in humanitarian work, also voluntarily take on the responsibility of environmental protection and contribute to the well-being of the community.

BSMM and the Bakam Nature Reserve jointly carried out this activity, highlighting the importance of community participation in protecting green spaces, while also ensuring that previous tree planting efforts continue to receive attention and proper maintenance.

Through such activities, BSMM continues to strengthen the culture of volunteer service, teamwork, and community service, while also raising awareness among volunteers and the local community about the importance of environmental protection.
