Malaysian Enthusiasm Moves Mun Ka Young and Lee Jong Suk – Both Praise Each Other as 'Great Partners'

South Korean actors Lee Jong Suk and Mun Ka Young came to Malaysia to attend the finale viewing party of the tvN drama Seocho-dong in which they starred. Last night, the two appeared at a public meet-and-greet at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, attracting a large crowd of fans and creating a lively atmosphere. At the press conference this afternoon, both expressed their surprise and deep gratitude for the passion of Malaysian fans. As first-time collaborators, they also praised each other as excellent partners.

On her first visit to Malaysia, Mun Ka Young candidly said, "I didn’t expect even more fans to show up than I imagined, so I participated in the event with a nervousness that I haven't felt in a long time." Lee Jong Suk added, "It's my first time here, and I could really feel the passionate support from Malaysian fans. For a moment, I was at a loss for words, but I sincerely thank everyone for their continuous love and support—I will bring this beautiful memory back to Korea."

Seocho-dong is set against the legal community in Seoul’s Seocho-dong, telling the daily stories—full of laughter and tears—of five salaried lawyers working in different law firms in the same building. The five form the “Lunch Group of Five,” coming together every lunch break to eat, chat, and discuss cases, mutually supporting and growing together in both their careers and lives.

This marks Lee Jong Suk’s return to television after three years since Big Mouth, once again donning the lawyer’s robe as he plays An Joo Hyung, a senior associate with 9 years of experience. Mun Ka Young plays Kang Hee Ji, a passionate and ambitious rookie lawyer. Lee Jong Suk said the filming process was very enjoyable and especially looked forward to the scenes where the five dined together: “The atmosphere really relaxed me.” Mun Ka Young shared that her role required a lot of legal jargon, so she spent considerable time familiarizing herself with the script.

When asked about why she took the role, Mun Ka Young sweetly replied, “Because of Oppa (Lee Jong Suk).” She quickly added, “I also really liked the script and the cast, which is why I decided to join.” Lee Jong Suk explained that his character is someone close to everyday life, a type he’s never tried before, and that he hopes to present a different side of himself through this role.

Their first time working together, both couldn’t help but generously praise one another as excellent partners. Lee Jong Suk described Mun Ka Young as “calm and steady; I depended on her a lot during filming—she really is a great partner.” Hearing this, Mun Ka Young laughed and said, “This evaluation makes me very satisfied.” She also praised Lee Jong Suk for taking great care of everyone on set: “Oppa really took care of us and led us to finish the shooting smoothly. I’m really grateful.”

The crew once filmed in Hong Kong. Asked what Hong Kong food they missed most, Mun Ka Young replied “egg tarts,” saying with a smile that she still remembers the taste. Lee Jong Suk thought for a while before answering “Haidilao,” adding with a chuckle, “I went to eat Haidilao last night as well—it was delicious!” It seems he has a special fondness for Haidilao.

When asked what career they would choose if they weren’t entertainers, Mun Ka Young, who started as a child actress, said, “I began acting when I was very young, so I never thought about doing anything else.” Lee Jong Suk joked, “My dream has always been to be a star.”

As for upcoming work, Lee Jong Suk revealed that he is currently filming a new drama and promised “not to keep fans waiting too long.” Meanwhile, Mun Ka Young said she is preparing for a fan meeting and picking out film scripts: “There should be plenty of opportunities to meet everyone.”
