(Bandar Seri Begawan, 30th) The Brunei Red Crescent Society recently held its 14th Annual General Meeting at the Annajat Complex in Beribi, attended by association leaders and members from the four districts, representatives of school cadets, as well as youths and volunteers.
Also present at the meeting was Catherine, the ASEAN representative and regional head for Indonesia, Singapore, Timor-Leste, and Brunei. She is on a four-day working visit to Brunei to discuss issues of common concern among Red Crescent Societies.
In her opening speech, Brunei Red Crescent Chairperson Lailatul reflected on the progress made during the first year of the newly formed executive committee, which took office in November 2024. Among the achievements she highlighted was a 14.28% increase in new Brunei Red Crescent members since November 2024. Other achievements included the launch in October of the community service BRC Care, in cooperation with Baiduri Bank Private Limited, which aims to cater to the needs of young children, people with disabilities, post-surgery patients, and the elderly.
In addition, BRC also launched the "Mobile First Aid Vehicle" project in collaboration with the Ministry of Home Affairs. This project, officiated by the Minister of Home Affairs, aims to provide first aid assistance to the public during the weekly Bandar Ku Ceria event held every Sunday in the capital.
Two more upcoming services include a non-emergency ambulance service, intended for transporting non-emergency patients as well as those visiting hospitals and clinics; and a BRC funeral hearse service, for sending deceased loved ones to their final resting place. These services are offered to the public at community prices, as the Brunei Red Crescent (BRC) is committed to fulfilling its duties as Brunei's leading humanitarian organization, upholding the interests of vulnerable groups and humanitarian values. This aligns with the objectives of Sharia law, the Malay Muslim Monarchy philosophy, and the goals of Brunei Vision 2035.
The Brunei Red Crescent also plans to publish two publications in 2026, including its first Strategic Plan (2026-2030) and an official First Aid Manual, both of which will be available in print and electronic versions.
