Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Baghaei stated that U.S. President Trump’s claims that Iran requested a ceasefire are 'false and baseless.'
He also pointed out that the Iranian side had received messages through intermediaries, including Pakistan, but has not negotiated directly with the United States. He said the U.S. demands are 'excessive and unreasonable.'
He said that for the Iranian people, the most important thing is to resist aggression, and that Iran is prepared to respond to any form of attack, including a ground offensive.
Earlier, Trump posted on social media saying that Iran had 'just requested a ceasefire from the United States,' but the U.S. would only consider it once the Strait of Hormuz was reopened.
In his post, Trump wrote: 'The President of Iran... just requested a ceasefire from the United States. We will not consider it until the Strait of Hormuz is open, free, and unimpeded. Before the strait is open, we will bomb Iran to ashes, or as they say — bomb them back to the Stone Age!'
