(Kuching, 4th)-The Sarawak Foundation Director's boat, namely the Puteri Dang Balai longboat team, once again won the title of 'King of the River' at the 2024 Sarawak Boat Race Festival.
Numerous dignitaries attended to witness the boat race festival. From the right are Datuk Seri Abdul Karim, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari, His Majesty Sultan of Brunei Hassanal Bolkiah, and Sarawak Governor Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud and wife.
At the boat race festival that concluded yesterday, the Puteri Dang Balai longboat team narrowly defeated its opponent, the LANDAS Kasihnya Warisan longboat team, by a few seconds to successfully clinch the 'King of the River' trophy, earning a cash prize of RM30,000 and a trophy.
The runner-up, LANDAS Kasihnya Warisan longboat team, received a cash prize of RM20,000 and a trophy, while the third place went to the Udak longboat team, which received a cash prize of RM10,000 and a trophy.
The Sarawak boat race festival attracted a large crowd of spectators.
His Majesty Sultan of Brunei, Hassanal Bolkiah, who attended the event, was also invited to present the awards to the winning teams.
Dignitaries attending the 2024 Sarawak Boat Race Festival included Sarawak's Head of State, Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud and Head of State's wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Raghad Kurdi Taib, as well as Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari, among others.
