(Bandar Seri Begawan, 16th) On September 21, 2025, at the prestigious 2025 IET Faraday Challenge held in the multipurpose hall of the Institute of Brunei Technical Education, a six-member representative team from Chung Hwa Middle School Brunei claimed the honor of runner-up with their outstanding performance.
This Faraday Challenge, organized by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) Brunei, is a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education competition aimed at guiding students to think and solve problems like engineers. This year's challenge required participants to use programming, computational thinking, and real-time problem-solving skills in dynamic scenarios. The Chung Hwa team responded impressively to all challenges in the event, fully showcasing their exceptional technical acuity, rich creativity, and seamless teamwork.
“This challenge has truly broadened our horizons. It not only pushed us out of our comfort zone, but also guided us to grow not just as students, but as future innovators. It was truly a pivotal leap,” recalled one of the school’s participants.
School principal Madam Hii Nyuk Lan expressed heartfelt pride in the students’ achievements. She praised the school’s team for competing with a spirit of dedication and pursuit of excellence, making her extremely proud. The outstanding performance of these students has greatly inspired their peers, sparking further eagerness and enthusiasm for participation—renewing her belief that students are opening the doors to a successful future.
The Chung Hwa team’s excellence was not limited to technical aspects, but also embodied the core values of teamwork and effective communication as advocated by the competition. Facing formidable opponents, the team members displayed confidence and a collaborative spirit: sharing experiences, working closely, and cooperating to tackle complex tasks together—qualities that are indispensable in their future academic and career development.
Chung Hwa Brunei extends sincere thanks to the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) for organizing this impactful event, and for their ongoing efforts in driving engineering innovation and nurturing young talents. Such platforms not only develop students’ comprehensive abilities, but also inspire the younger generation to contribute meaningfully to the nation’s future.
