(Miri, 8th) The Swordfish Swimming Club has brought more good news, as 16-year-old swimmer Liao Qi Heng will represent Sarawak for the first time, competing in the 68th Malaysian Open Swimming Championships to bring glory to Sarawak.
The event will be held from April 9 to 12 in Kuala Lumpur, gathering outstanding swimmers from all states for fierce competition. Liao Qi Heng’s selection to the Sarawak team demonstrates that his recent performances have gained recognition from coaches and the state team.
He will participate in four events at this meet: 50m freestyle, 100m freestyle, 50m breaststroke, and 100m breaststroke. Of these, he will focus on breaking into the finals and striving for a valuable medal for Sarawak in the 50m breaststroke event.
Although faced with strong competitors from all over the country, Liao Qi Heng is fully prepared and will give his all to perform at his best. The club's coaches and teammates are full of confidence in him, calling on everyone to cheer him on and hoping he will return with honors.
During the championship, the Swordfish Swimming Club also hopes to use this opportunity to inspire more young athletes to train hard, continue to improve their competitive level, and help cultivate more outstanding swimmers for Sarawak and the nation.
