Parents’ Day Promotes Parent-Child Bond, Lee Kim Shin Emphasizes Importance of Family Education

(Miri, 24th) Sarawak Transport Minister and Senadin State Assemblyman Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin said that a progressive society not only requires economic development but also warmth, culture, and the spirit of unity. Therefore, all sectors of society should pay more attention to family relationships and parent-child communication, so that children can grow up in a healthy, loving, and positive environment.

He said that in this era of advanced technology and fast-paced living, family companionship is even more important, because during a child’s growth process, the most precious thing is not just academic achievement, but the companionship, encouragement, and warmth from parents.

“A loving family gives children more confidence and also helps cultivate positive values in them. We believe that a happy society must begin with happy families.”

He expressed this when delivering a speech at the “Parents’ Day Children’s Coloring Competition” organized by the Hailong Temple Doumu Palace Nine Emperor Gods, Luohan, Sanhuang, and Longgong Youth Group at the hall in Miri this morning.

He said that Parents’ Day is a very warm and important festival, reminding everyone to cherish their parents' love and to be grateful for their selfless dedication and companionship all along.

“Parents are a child’s first teachers in life and are the most important support throughout the process of growing up. No matter how busy life is, parents always silently contribute to the family, giving the best to their children.”

He pointed out that this event is not just an ordinary coloring contest, but a meaningful activity that promotes parent-child relationships, cultivates a spirit of gratitude, and encourages children to unleash their creativity and imagination.

He encouraged the children to express their love and gratitude to their parents through their artwork, and to bravely use their imagination, using the most beautiful colors to paint the love and happiness in their hearts.

At the same time, he also praised the Hailong Temple Doumu Palace for its long-term and active organization of charitable, cultural, and community activities, making many contributions to the Miri community.

He said that the Youth Group shows the vitality and sense of responsibility of young people, bringing care and positive energy into the community through the organization of parent-child activities, children’s events, and public welfare programs.

“This is exactly the spirit that society needs.”

Lee Kim Shin also expressed that the Sarawak government has always emphasized a “people-oriented” development philosophy. Under the Post-Covid-19 Development Strategy (PCDS 2030), in addition to promoting economic and infrastructure development, the government also focuses on social inclusiveness, family welfare, and community building.

He also thanked the Hailong Temple Doumu Palace Nine Emperor Gods, Luohan, Sanhuang, and Longgong Youth Group for the invitation, and wished the “Parents’ Day Children’s Coloring Competition” a complete success.
