(China, 17th) As the Chinese 903 military parade approaches, officials are conducting intensive rehearsals. From 5:30 p.m. on the 16th to 3:30 a.m. on the 17th, the authorities held the second comprehensive rehearsal for the conference commemorating the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War in the Tiananmen area of Beijing, with around 40,000 people participating in the rehearsal and on-site support work. Compared with the first rehearsal which had 22,000 participants, the scale of this rehearsal has been expanded.
The second comprehensive rehearsal, based on the first rehearsal, incorporated more elements and steps, including procedures for the commemorative ceremony, assembly and evacuation, and so on. According to officials, the rehearsal met the expected objectives and further tested the operation of the command system and organizational support work. Relevant Beijing authorities stated that the second comprehensive rehearsal spanned a longer period and covered a larger area.
Due to the expanded scale, the lockdown range for the second rehearsal was also larger and lasted longer. From noon on the 16th until dawn on the 17th, security was significantly increased on the roads on both sides of Tiananmen Square and around the Great Hall of the People. In the evening, roads surrounding Chang'an Avenue were closed, only allowing pedestrians and vehicles with special event passes to pass through. Bicycles and electric scooters were not permitted to park nearby. Surrounding attractions such as the Forbidden City and the National Museum were closed from noon on the 15th.
This year, to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the victory in the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, China will hold a series of commemorative events. The most anticipated is the military parade on September 3rd at Tiananmen Square in Beijing, during which CPC General Secretary Xi Jinping will inspect the troops and deliver a speech.
