Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry Sets Festive MAXIMUM PRICE OF CONTROLLED PRICE GOODS

(Miri, 23rd) The Malaysian Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) will implement MAXIMUM PRICE measures in conjunction with the Chinese New Year from the 25th of this month to February 2nd.

During this period, merchants may not sell products above the controlled prices, and controlled products must bear pink price tags to ensure sufficient market supply and the use of qualified scales for weighing.

Any merchants who sell controlled products above the controlled price, if found guilty, may be fined up to RM 100,000 or imprisoned for not more than 3 years or both, while companies may be fined up to RM 500,000.

Additionally, merchants who fail to place pink price tags on controlled price products, if found guilty, may be fined up to RM 10,000, while companies may be fined up to RM 20,000.

Merchants who do not list prices individually may face fines of RM 50,000, and companies may face fines of RM 100,000.
