Trump Claims Iran Regime Change, Still Expresses Willingness to Reach Agreement with Iran

(US, 30th) US President Trump has declared that the military actions launched by the US and Israel against Iran have already resulted in a regime change in Iran, but he also assured that the US would 'reach an agreement' with Iran.

On Sunday (March 29), aboard Air Force One, Trump told reporters: “I believe we will reach an agreement with them, I am quite confident... but there has already been a regime change in Iran.”

He mentioned that, during this war that has lasted for a month, multiple Iranian leaders have died, and claimed that those currently in power in Iran are a completely different group of people. “So I think this is regime change.”
Last week, Trump said that Washington was negotiating with Iran and that a “high-level figure” was in contact, but clarified that this person was not Iran’s new Supreme Leader, Mujtaba. “We don’t even know if he is alive.”

Earlier on Sunday, Mujtaba, who has still not made a public appearance, issued a written statement thanking the people of Iraq for their support during Iran’s confrontation with the US and Israel.

The Iranian Students’ News Agency reported that in the statement, Mujtaba “expressed gratitude to Iraq’s highest religious authority and the people of Iraq, thanking them for their clear stance against the invasion of Iran and for their support of Iran.”

The ‘Iraq’s highest religious authority’ mentioned in the statement refers to Iraq’s top Shia cleric, Sistani.

According to reports, this statement was released after a meeting between the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq and the Iranian ambassador in Baghdad.
