The official social media account of the White House continued to build momentum for the 'seizure of Greenland' on the X platform on the 23rd: it posted an AI-generated picture showing US President Trump leading a penguin holding an American flag across the snow, with a Greenland flag planted in the distance.
"Embrace the penguin," the White House wrote.
But here comes the biggest issue: penguins don't exist in the Arctic region of Greenland—wild penguins only appear in the Antarctic and the Southern Hemisphere. Greenland should have polar bears instead.
Netizens left comments pointing out this common knowledge: "For your information: Penguins live in the Southern Hemisphere."; "Can someone tell him there are no penguins on Greenland?"
Earlier, in the early morning of the 20th, Trump posted a photo on social media showing himself holding an American flag and landing on Greenland, with Vice President Vance and Secretary of State Rubio standing behind him, and a sign board beside them reading "Greenland to become US territory in 2026." That same day, Trump also posted another image: he is in the White House office meeting with European leaders, and on the map on the display board behind them, in addition to the continental US, Canada, Greenland and Venezuela are all covered by the American flag.
