(Daro, 11th) The Daro New Town Expansion Project continues to receive a warm market response, with all commercial units in the second phase fully taken up before the expected completion in November 2026. This demonstrates strong market confidence in the development potential of this emerging town in central Sarawak.

Sarawak Deputy Premier and Second Minister of Natural Resources and Urban Development, Datuk Amar Awang Tengah, stated that the encouraging demand reflects the feasibility of Daro’s development as an emerging economic center, mainly thanks to systematic township planning and growing commercial investment interest.

During an inspection of the Daro New Town Expansion Project construction site yesterday (June 10), he told Sarawak Public Communications Unit (UKAS):

“The first phase has been completed and is fully operational, while the second phase builds on the success of the first, serving as an important component in the region’s phased development plan.”

The second phase of the Daro New Town Expansion Project comprises 20 double-storey shoplots, 10 double-storey mini shops, and 10 small industrial factories, aimed at providing a better development platform for local entrepreneurs.

In addition, the project is simultaneously building supporting infrastructure such as public toilets, power substations, open spaces, and parking facilities to create a more complete and convenient business environment.

Awang Tengah said the full take-up of commercial units clearly reflects Daro’s rising attractiveness as a business hub and its potential to attract more investment.

He said: "This clearly shows that Daro has strong development potential to become a new economic growth center."

He also expressed gratitude to the Land Custody and Development Authority (LCDA) and all implementing agencies for their efforts in ensuring that the project proceeds smoothly according to schedule.
