The South Korean Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport stated on Sunday (December 29) that the two black boxes of the crashed plane at Muan Airport were found on the same day.
As of 5:11 PM local time, authorities have confirmed that 174 people died in the accident, and 5 are still being searched for.
The South Korean Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport said at a press conference that an extensive investigation is needed to determine the complex cause of the crash. A commercial plane crash investigation takes at least 6 months and can even last several years.
The South Korean Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced earlier that day that the runway at Muan Airport will be closed until 5 AM on January 1, 2025, local time.
