(Miri, 9th) Deputy Minister of Tourism of Sarawak, Datuk Sebastian Ting, visited the Miri branch office of the Malaysian Diabetes Association today and handed over a grant.
In his speech during the event, Sebastian Ting mentioned that diabetes is one of the serious diseases in Malaysia and can lead to severe consequences for patients, such as blindness and kidney disease.
He also urged the public to frequently check their blood sugar levels to avoid this illness, as high blood sugar does not show symptoms.
He congratulated the association on overcoming various challenges to have its own office, which provides consultation services to more people.
It is reported that the center was purchased before the pandemic at a price of RM375,000, paid in cash thanks to the generosity of members and the public.
Additionally, the vice chairman of the association, Dato Dr Fam, stated that Miri Hospital currently has comprehensive treatment facilities, so the public should not avoid seeking medical help.
