The U.S. has warned the industry about the risks of using advanced Chinese computer chips. On the 21st, China's Ministry of Commerce stated that U.S. measures may constitute discriminatory restrictions against Chinese enterprises. Any individual or organization executing or assisting in execution will be suspected of violating China's Anti-Foreign Sanctions Law and must bear corresponding legal responsibilities.
The U.S. Department of Commerce's website has adjusted the AI chip export control guidelines, changing the wording from "using Huawei Ascend chips anywhere in the world violates U.S. export control regulations" to "warn the industry of the risks of using advanced Chinese computer chips, including specific Huawei Ascend chips."
A spokesperson for China's Ministry of Commerce made a statement on Wednesday, saying that U.S. measures are typical unilateral bullying and protectionist practices that severely damage the stability of the global semiconductor industry supply chain, depriving other countries of their rights to develop cutting-edge computing chips and high-tech industries like artificial intelligence.
The spokesperson said: "China believes the U.S. is abusing export controls to contain and suppress China, violating international law and basic norms of international relations, seriously damaging the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese enterprises, and harming China's development interests."
The spokesperson emphasized that U.S. measures are suspected of constituting discriminatory restrictions against Chinese enterprises. Any organization or individual executing or assisting in the execution of U.S. measures will be suspected of violating laws and regulations such as the "Anti-Foreign Sanctions Law of the People's Republic of China" and must bear corresponding legal responsibilities.
The spokesperson also said that innovative development and win-win cooperation are the trends. China urges the U.S. to immediately correct its wrong practices, abide by international trade and economic rules, and respect the technological development rights of other countries.
