(Bandar Seri Begawan, 13th) – A local man was detained by the Royal Brunei Police Force on Wednesday for allegedly using electricity illegally to conduct cryptocurrency mining activities at a private residence in Kampong Tunggulian, Gadong.
An inspection of the residence revealed that electricity had been diverted through unauthorized modifications to power cryptocurrency mining machines.
The suspect is currently under investigation under the Electricity Act (Chapter 71) for allegedly illegally extracting electricity. All crypto mining equipment found during the operation has been seized for further investigation and prosecution.
This enforcement action was initiated based on intelligence gathering and continuous monitoring of suspected illegal electricity usage activities.
