Six university students from Northeastern University in China died in an accident while visiting Inner Mongolia Mining Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of the state-owned China National Gold Group.
According to China News Service, reporters learned from the Emergency Management Bureau of Hulunbuir, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region on the 23rd that six university students accidentally fell and drowned while visiting a local enterprise.
It was reported that at about 10:20 a.m. on the day in question, six students from Northeastern University were visiting the flotation process at Wunugetushan Copper-Molybdenum Mine Concentration Plant, operated by China National Gold Group's Inner Mongolia Mining Co., Ltd. During the tour, they fell into the flotation tank when a grating board gave way.
The six were pulled out but were confirmed deceased due to drowning. One teacher was also injured.
Currently, local authorities, Northeastern University, and China National Gold Group Co., Ltd. are carrying out follow-up and support work.

China National Gold released a statement explaining the situation on the 24th.
The statement said that on the 23rd, six Northeastern University students were visiting the flotation process at the Wunugetushan Copper-Molybdenum Mine Concentration Plant, a subsidiary controlled by China National Gold, when a grating board gave way and they fell into the flotation tank. Despite rescue efforts, the six were eventually pulled out but confirmed to have drowned. Additionally, one teacher was injured.
The statement said that after the incident, company leadership attached great importance to the situation, immediately activated the emergency response plan, rushed to the scene to organize handling efforts, and promptly reported to all relevant local government departments as required. All follow-up measures are proceeding in an orderly manner.
China National Gold stated that it will fully monitor developments and timely perform information disclosure duties.
