Thai Prime Minister Peitongtan expressed support for Malaysia assuming the ASEAN Chairmanship in 2025.
She also hopes that Thailand and Malaysia can work together to benefit both countries and the entire ASEAN region.
“I am committed to maintaining the dynamism of our relationship and the efforts we are making to achieve shared peace and prosperity.”
Peitongtan, invited by Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar, made her first official visit to Malaysia since taking office. After the 7th Thailand-Malaysia Leaders’ Consultation Meeting, she spoke at a joint press conference.
Both countries share the same stance on Timor-Leste’s accession to ASEAN and are committed to supporting Timor-Leste in becoming a full member of ASEAN.
Regarding this, Anwar said: “Thank you Prime Minister Peitongtan for your firm support for Malaysia assuming the ASEAN Chairmanship.”
