Pakistan’s entertainment industry was recently left in shock! 32-year-old Humaira Asghar Ali was found dead in her apartment, with her body badly decomposed and almost mummified. The cause of death remains unclear. According to forensic estimates, she had passed away as early as October 2024, which means her remains went undiscovered for about 9 months.
Police stated that Humaira's landlord had sought an eviction order from the court due to unpaid rent over a long period. On July 8, 2025, when court bailiffs enforced the order, they discovered a highly decomposed female corpse inside the residence. Forensics revealed that the brain and internal organs were completely decayed, with parts of the bones even disintegrating upon contact. Although an initial report indicated no obvious external injuries or signs of bone fractures, the cause of death could not be determined due to the advanced state of decomposition.
Police originally leaned towards natural causes, but a citizen filed a complaint with the Karachi district court citing numerous suspicious points surrounding Humaira's death and raising questions about her family relations and financial situation, requesting that the case be investigated as a homicide. The court subsequently instructed police to form a six-member special task force to expand the investigation.
There were rumors circulating that Humaira had lost contact with her family for years, but her brother recently stepped forward to deny these claims, emphasizing: "We never cut off contact with her. Please stop misunderstanding and hurting us. We hope the authorities thoroughly investigate the truth, and we also urge the media to focus on questions regarding the landlord and the building's safety, such as why there weren't any surveillance cameras and why it took so long for anyone to notice something was wrong."
Humaira’s last confirmed contact before her death was a voice message sent to her friend Dureshehwar in September 2024. In the message, she said: “Sorry, I’ve been on the road lately and really busy. I’m so happy to hear you’re in Mecca—please pray more for me, your lovely friend, someone like your sister, sincerely pray for me. Especially for my career in the entertainment industry, please remember to give me your blessings... You must pray a lot for me.” After hearing the news of Humaira's death, Dureshehwar was distraught and tearfully said: “Her tone was so gentle at the time. I just can't imagine she died alone in that apartment, without anyone knowing for nine months.”
