Marvel Veteran Replaced by AI: 'The Wasp' Speaks Out, Blasts Disney

Published at May 04, 2026 03:35 pm
Disney has recently announced a large-scale layoff plan, with a layoff ratio as high as 8%, affecting even its core creative team. Hollywood actress Evangeline Lilly, who played “The Wasp” in the Ant-Man series, recently posted a video on social media, tearfully accusing Disney of 'discarding people once they've served their purpose.' She said artists who shaped the very souls of heroes are being swept out and replaced by AI, sparking heated discussion among fans worldwide.

Lilly revealed in the video that upon hearing about the layoffs, she immediately called Marvel's renowned visual designer Andy Park, who personally designed the original Wasp's costume and is a founding figure of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Unexpectedly, he too confirmed that he was 'leaving.' Lilly became emotional when discussing this, lashing out at Disney's management and saying: “I really can’t believe that Disney would let go of these artists who infused creativity and talent into the soul of Marvel. These people were involved in designing these characters from the very beginning, and now they are being replaced by AI.”

She further criticized Disney for forcibly feeding decades of human creative data into AI systems, then letting machines produce cheap copies. In her video, she called on fans to unite and support these laid-off artists, and encouraged the artists by saying, “No matter how technology develops in the future, you are the true magicians who create miracles.”
