The Philippine Navy has recently intensified its maritime patrol and logistics operations, conducting sea patrols and supply missions in the eastern part of Mindanao, Palawan, and southern sea areas, demonstrating its ongoing resolve to uphold national maritime sovereignty and regional stability.
In a statement released Wednesday, the Navy noted that the offshore patrol vessel “BRP Artemio Ricarte” (PS-37) carried out a maritime patrol mission on Monday in the eastern waters of Mindanao, covering the waters near Sarangani Province, Balut Island, western Davao Province, as well as the maritime boundary between the Philippines and Indonesia.
The Navy stated that this operation aims to enhance maritime domain awareness, ensure the safety of vital sea lines of communication, and deter illegal and transnational maritime criminal activities. The relevant waters are close to international borders and have significant strategic value. Continued naval presence is crucial for defending national sovereignty and promoting regional stability.
On the other hand, two Philippine Navy transport ships also conducted patrol and logistics supply missions on New Year’s Eve. Commander Sisican, Director of the Naval Public Affairs Office, indicated that the “BRP Laguna” (LS-501) conducted patrol and maritime transport duties in the waters under Palawan’s responsibility on December 28, supporting personnel rotation and supply deliveries, including fuel transport, to the Kalayaan Island Group, while also carrying out maritime sovereignty patrols.
Additionally, the “BRP Dagupan City” (LS-551) delivered basic supplies on Tuesday to Zamboanga City and Poblacion Polok in Barangay Balang, Maguindanao Province.
The Philippine Navy emphasized that these actions reflect the ongoing enhancement of mobile support, the strengthening of maritime presence, and, through regular and mission-oriented naval operations, the comprehensive protection of national maritime interests and sea area security.
