In conjunction with the upcoming 47th ASEAN Summit next month, a total of 14,492 police officers and 3,000 immigration officers will be deployed to ensure the country's entry checkpoints remain highly secure and operate smoothly.
Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution stated that preparations for the ASEAN Summit are progressing well, with world leaders such as U.S. President Donald Trump expected to attend.
"Preparatory work is in place, and I have been briefed by the Immigration Department to ensure our preparations are thorough. Six training modules have been implemented, and our personnel have also been sent to attend training at the National Institute of Public Administration (INTAN)."
He mentioned today (30th) at the ministry's monthly assembly that several lanes have been set up at major entry points in the country to ensure seamless immigration clearance for delegates and national leaders participating in the summit.
"Everything is ready; we have identified the main channels and fast-track lanes, and the next step is to ensure our plans are implemented smoothly."
"Our tasks are very important, namely security measures and the reception procedures for distinguished guests at entry checkpoints."
The 47th ASEAN Summit will be held in Kuala Lumpur in October, with world leaders expected from the United States, China, India, Australia, Canada, Brazil, South Africa, Japan, South Korea, as well as ASEAN member countries.
