According to the latest data released by a Chinese automobile specialist website, in the first 10 months of this year, among the Top 10 countries in global automobile sales, China leads with 18.0302 million units sold, significantly ahead of the second place, the United States, by a gap of 4.5 million units. Another statistic indicates that in October of this year, BYD topped global new energy vehicle brand sales with 483,000 units, leading the second-place Tesla by a factor of 4, which is also the total of the sales from the 2nd to 9th positions combined.

13 Out of the Top 20 New Energy Vehicle Brands are Chinese

According to the data from the Chinese automobile specialist website EasyCar List, the United States ranks second in the cumulative automobile sales, reaching 13.4976 million units in the first 10 months of this year. However, while the total automobile sales in the U.S. are less than China's, the car ownership per thousand people in the U.S. exceeds 800, making it the country with the highest per capita car ownership globally.

Additionally, the data points out that in the first 10 months of this year, China's new energy vehicle (electric vehicles, plug-in hybrid vehicles) sales reached 8.3555 million units, also ranking first worldwide. The penetration rate of new energy vehicles in the automotive market has reached 46.3%, approaching the sales scale of fuel vehicles.

The report states that, compared to other countries on the list, no country can match China's penetration rate of new energy vehicles. In countries like India, Japan, Brazil, Canada, and Italy, the penetration rate of new energy vehicles is still in single digits. Although the penetration rate in the UK and France exceeds 20%, due to the small scale of domestic auto sales in China, cumulative new energy vehicle sales are 453,100 units and 369,400 units, respectively.

Moreover, the clean energy technology website CleanTechnica recently released a list of the top 20 global new energy vehicle brands as of October 2024, with Chinese new energy brands occupying 13 positions, showcasing an overwhelming advantage. Brands from Germany took 3 spots, while Korea, Europe, Japan, and the United States each took one spot.

According to the report by Fast Technology, Chinese new energy vehicle company BYD leads with sales of 483,000 units, accounting for 27.7% of the global market share. This figure even surpasses the total sales from the second to ninth positions combined.

Furthermore, Tesla ranks second with sales of 122,000 units, holding a market share of 7.0%. Wuling, Geely, and Li Auto rank third, fourth, and fifth, with sales of 78,000, 66,000, and 51,000 units, corresponding to market shares of 4.5%, 3.8%, and 3.0%, respectively.
