Chinese Defense Ministry spokesperson Jiang Bin announced on the 10th that the upcoming 'Beijing Xiangshan Forum', set to open on the 17th, has confirmed the attendance of defense officials, military leaders, and representatives from international and regional organizations from over 100 countries, including Russia, France, and Brazil. The 80th anniversary of the victory in the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the 80th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations will be key themes of the meeting.
The 12th Beijing Xiangshan Forum will be held from September 17th to 19th. As in previous years, besides countries friendly with China, countries in strategic competition with China—such as the United States, Japan, and some traditional Western European allies—usually send experts or mid-level military representatives to participate.
Jiang Bin stated that preparations for this year's Beijing Xiangshan Forum are essentially complete. As of now, over 100 countries, including Vietnam, Singapore, Russia, France, Nigeria, and Brazil, have confirmed the attendance of defense department and military leaders, as well as representatives of international and regional organizations, making the participants 'broader in national scope and stronger in representation.'
He noted that this forum will focus on topics such as global security governance, Asia-Pacific security cooperation, maintaining international order, and building regional peace. There will be four plenary meetings and eight parallel breakout sessions.
Jiang Bin mentioned that in addition to the above meetings, the forum will also incorporate academic events themed around the 80th anniversary of the 'Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War Victory' and the 80th anniversary of the United Nations' founding, such as 'The Contemporary Significance of the Victory in the Anti-Fascist War', '80th Anniversary of the U.N.: Advancing Amid Changes', and 'War Memory and Contemporary Peace'.
He declared that these themes are aimed at advocating for all countries to jointly safeguard the 'achievements of the victory in the World Anti-Fascist War' and the post-war international order, exploring 'effective ways to resolve conflicts', injecting greater stability and 'positive energy' into a world fraught with turmoil, and 'striving for a brighter future for the destiny of humanity.'
