Malaysian singing star Azora Chin posted a lengthy letter on Weibo on the night of the 16th, officially drawing a close to his journey on ‘Singer 2026.’ Nearly 10 days had passed since the finale ended, and he admitted that he 'delayed writing this reflection until today,' as finishing it would mean truly saying goodbye to this extraordinary summer.
Looking back on the whole season, Azora Chin remarked that this summer 'has long surpassed the competition itself.' From first stepping onto the stage to completing the journey, he achieved a full-circle moment for his dreams and fulfilled his wish to perform 12 songs, frankly stating that he 'did not let those long nights go to waste.'
What left a deep impression was that, as he approached the grand stage of the finals, although the key word in his mind was 'magnificence,' what he really wished to convey was 'ordinariness.' In his letter, he wrote: 'Magnificent days are meant to be remembered, ordinary days are meant to make up a life.' Through this, he sent his best wishes to everyone, hoping that along with days without flowers or applause, each of us can live well through every extraordinary and ordinary day.
For his choice of songs in the grand final, Azora Chin did not blindly pursue a sense of competition but instead cleverly blended Stefanie Sun’s 'Everyday Delight' with the Malaysian classic folk song 'Rasa Sayang.' He specially invited renowned Chinese ethnic musician Gong Linna to join as a guest collaborator, and had choreographer Huang Xiao take charge of stage choreography, together presenting a highly moving intercultural performance.
Speaking of this unique arrangement, Azora Chin shared that the merging of the two melodies was not a deliberately designed effort, but rather because his life 'has always taken this form.' From growing up in Malaysia to building his career in China, both cultural backgrounds have long become inseparable parts of his musical life. He hopes the stage can help break barriers and foster understanding and exchange among different cultures.
