Suspected Accidental Acceleration Causes 3rd Floor Fall: Car Wash Employee Severely Injured

An employee at a car wash shop, while assisting a customer with parking, allegedly accidentally stepped on the accelerator, causing the car to lose control, break through a wall, and fall from the 3rd-floor parking lot of a serviced apartment on Old Klang Road in Kuala Lumpur. The employee was severely injured and sent to the hospital.

This thrilling accident also affected two cars at the ground level, fortunately, no one was injured.
The accident occurred yesterday (15th) at 5:38 PM, and the injured is a 23-year-old Afghan national. At the time, he was driving a freshly washed Toyota Camry, preparing to move the vehicle back to its parking space, when he allegedly accidentally stepped on the accelerator, causing the accident.

Two cars on the ground floor were hit by the falling Toyota Camry, fortunately, the cars were unoccupied.Assistant Director of the Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division, Mohamad Zamzuri, noted that preliminary investigations indicate the car, while out of control, crashed through the 3rd-floor parking lot wall before falling and hitting two cars parked on the ground—Proton Iriz and Perodua Myvi.

“Fortunately, the two cars that were hit were unoccupied, preventing a more serious casualty.”

The third-floor parking lot wall was broken.He added that the injured party suffered severe injuries from the fall and has been sent to the emergency red zone at Universiti Malaya Medical Centre (PPUM) for urgent treatment.

Police are currently investigating further under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, which refers to “accidents caused by negligent or careless driving.”
