40-year-old actress Chrissie Chau, dubbed the “Hong Kong Busty Goddess,” debuted in 2009 and was nominated twice for Best Actress at the Hong Kong Film Awards, with “29+1” in 2018 and “Madalena” in 2022. Yesterday, she was sued by Lee Ka Shing, the second son of former Hong Kong richest man Lee Shau Kee, on suspicion of defamation and harassment. Last night, Chrissie Chau expressed her deep grievance via IG, denied Lee Ka Shing’s accusations, and said she would discuss countermeasures with her lawyer.
Lee Ka Shing, who has remarkable wealth, married actress Kathy Tsui, who is 11 years younger than him, 20 years ago. They have two sons and two daughters, and Tsui is often called the “trillionaire daughter-in-law.” The controversy stemmed from Chrissie Chau’s alleged misconduct during movie promotions in 2016, which led the media to use headlines such as “having ties with a married super-rich heir,” causing the public to mistakenly believe Chau and Lee had a special relationship. Lee’s attorney particularly emphasized that a lawyer’s letter was sent to Chau that year, but both parties reportedly failed to reach a consensus, hence the lawsuit.
In response, Chau issued a plain statement yesterday, saying she was shocked by Lee Ka Shing’s accusation. She emphasized that she had never hinted or made any suggestive statements to imply that she had any relationship with him. She also stated that she had clearly said in an interview last June that she simply does not know Lee Ka Shing and had no intention of creating hype. She believes justice will prove her innocence.
