Iran Emphasizes Free Use of Unfrozen Assets; Trump Says Released Funds Will Buy U.S. Goods

On the 23rd, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Baghaei stated at the weekly press conference that Iran will decide how to use its unfrozen assets entirely based on national interests and will not face any restrictions.

He said there are no restrictions in this regard, and when purchasing goods, relevant agencies such as the Iranian Ministry of Agriculture will make decisions based on price and quality.

He stated that the sales permits for Iranian crude oil, petrochemical products, refined oil, and related services issued by the United States came into effect on the 22nd, and the same principles apply to Iran's unfrozen assets.

He said: "Iran's previously frozen assets are now fully available and can be freely used in accordance with its own priorities."

However, after Baghaei's remarks, U.S. President Trump stated on social media on the 23rd that the Iranian assets unfrozen by the U.S. Treasury would be deposited into trust accounts controlled by the United States and would be specifically used to purchase food and medical supplies from the United States, including U.S. corn, wheat, and soybeans.

Iran Accepts Highest Level of Inspections

Trump also pointed out that Iran has agreed to accept the highest level of inspections. Based on Iran making major concessions, the U.S. side will allow the Strait of Hormuz to remain open and will no longer implement a maritime blockade.

He said: "However, all (U.S. military) ships will remain on standby in place, in case it becomes necessary to reimpose the blockade. Although at present, this possibility seems extremely low."
