Datuk Azman, Director-General of the Enforcement Division of the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living, stated that during the implementation of the 2025 Hari Raya controlled goods program, the enforcement team took 386 actions against non-compliant businesses, issuing fines totaling 43,400 Ringgit.
He released a statement today saying that the 2025 Hari Raya controlled goods program was implemented from March 24 to April 7, aiming to stabilize unreasonable price hikes due to high demand during the festive period.
He mentioned that during this period, a total of 26 types of goods were listed as controlled items.
Azman pointed out that during the implementation of the Hari Raya controlled goods period, the ministry's enforcement team conducted 7,258 inspections nationwide, among which 158 inspections targeted wholesalers and manufacturers, and 7,097 inspections were conducted at retail stores.
“During this period, the enforcement team took 386 actions against non-compliant businesses, including confiscating items worth 12,813 Ringgit and 84 cents, and issuing fines totaling 43,400 Ringgit.
He said that these 386 cases involved selling goods above the ceiling price, not using pink price tags, and failing to display price tags.
Furthermore, Azman also mentioned that with the supervision and enforcement of the team and feedback from the public, the 2025 Hari Raya festive controlled goods program was smoothly implemented without any complaints received, and the majority of businesses inspected complied with the ceiling prices set for the festive controlled goods.
He stated that the ministry also appreciates the cooperation from the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security and its affiliated agencies, the industry, and the support received, which enabled the successful implementation of the Hari Raya festive controlled goods program.
