U.S. President Trump stated on the 15th that an agreement to end the Russia-Ukraine war is closer to being reached than ever before.
Speaking to the media in the Oval Office, he said: “I believe we are closer now than ever before (to reaching an agreement).”
He pointed out that he has had "very long and very good talks" with Zelensky and others, including the leaders of the UK, France, Germany, and NATO.
Territorial Issues Particularly Thorny in Ukraine-U.S. Talks
Ukrainian President Zelensky said on the 15th that in talks with the United States held in Berlin, territorial issues have been particularly thorny, with differences still remaining among the parties. But importantly, Ukraine has had the opportunity to present its own position and this issue should be resolved fairly.
He said that Ukraine and the U.S. would continue negotiations.
He stated that the territorial demands were not proposed by the U.S., but instead the U.S. was relaying Russia's goals and demands, and Ukraine was also conveying its views through the U.S.
