Lei Jun: Xiaomi SU7 is the Only Pure Electric Sedan in Its Class to Defeat Tesla Model 3

Lei Jun, founder of Chinese tech company Xiaomi Group, posted on social media stating that although American electric vehicle maker Tesla is indeed strong, the Xiaomi SU7 is the only pure electric sedan in the same class that can defeat the Tesla Model 3.


Last Saturday (January 10), Lei Jun wrote on his personal Weibo account, “I checked the Yiche.com sales rankings: Tesla is indeed strong, but not invincible! What makes me proud is that the SU7 is so far the only pure electric sedan in the same class to have beaten the Model 3! Excellent product strength and quality are what result in such sales.”


He continued, the Xiaomi YU7, after only six months on the market, still lags behind the Model Y in sales. “I believe that, given time, the YU7 will be able to compete on equal footing!”

As Xiaomi Group Chairman, Lei Jun disclosed last Saturday (3rd) in his first live broadcast of the new year that Xiaomi Auto’s full-year delivery target for 2026 is 550,000 vehicles, and delivery in 2025 has already surpassed 410,000 vehicles, exceeding the original plan of 300,000.


This live broadcast was originally scheduled for December 31 last year, but Lei Jun posted on Weibo that due to a rather severe cold, he postponed the broadcast to January 3.
Last Wednesday (7th), Lei Jun announced on Weibo that pre-orders (with a small amount, fully refundable at any time, non-binding) for the new generation SU7 would start at 10:00 a.m. that day, with the official launch expected in April this year, and a pre-sale price increase of 14,000 yuan (RMB, approximately 9,240 MYR) over the old model.

According to reports, the new Xiaomi SU7 comes in three versions with pre-sale prices of 229,900 yuan for the Standard version, 259,900 yuan for the Pro version, and 309,900 yuan for the Max version. Compared to the previous SU7, the new Standard and Pro versions are 14,000 yuan more expensive, while the Max version is 10,000 yuan more expensive.
