(Kuching, 22nd) Most weather stations in Sarawak recorded maximum temperatures of 34 degrees Celsius (°C) and above yesterday (May 21), with three areas exceeding 35°C.
According to data from the Malaysian Meteorological Department (METMalaysia), the Sibu weather station recorded the highest temperature at 35.9°C, not only the highest in Sarawak but also the highest nationwide.
Meanwhile, the Sri Aman and Mukah weather stations recorded 35.8°C and 35.3°C respectively.
Both the Kapit and Kuching weather stations recorded maximum temperatures of 34.7°C; Miri, Bintulu, and Limbang recorded 34.5°C, 34.3°C, and 34.2°C respectively.
However, the Muka weather station recorded the lowest maximum temperature at 33.1°C.
As for rainfall distribution, Sri Aman recorded 2.2 mm of rainfall, followed by Sibu with 1.8 mm, and Mukah with 1 mm.
In addition, due to Sri Aman experiencing continuous temperatures between 35°C and 37°C for three days, it has been placed under a Level 1 Heatwave Alert.
