Macau's official announcement states that starting from noon on the 11th, Hong Kong residents can use iris scanning to travel to Macau.
The Macau Public Security Police Force announced this information on the government website on the 9th.
According to the announcement, as the development of the Greater Bay Area accelerates, exchanges between Hong Kong and Macau residents are becoming increasingly frequent. To further facilitate Hong Kong residents traveling to Macau, following the successful implementation of the "Hong Kong-Macau residents mutual use QR code" clearance facilitation measure in August last year, the Macau Public Security Police Force will expand the applicability of iris scanning to Hong Kong permanent residents who have registered to use Macau's self-service clearance facilities, starting at noon on June 11, 2025.
The announcement points out that currently, there are 81 iris self-service channels set up across six Macau ports, including Gongbei, the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge (Hong Kong-Macau Hall), the airport, Taipa Ferry Terminal, Outer Harbour Ferry Terminal, and Inner Harbour Ferry Terminal. Among these, 71 are equipped with second-generation detection equipment with added face-tracking functionality, larger screens, and more comprehensive voice capabilities.
