On the morning of the 30th, the Chinese Navy's Qi Jiguang and Yimengshan ships arrived in Hong Kong waters. They were then guided by the Suqian ship and vessels from the Hong Kong SAR Government to the Chinese People's Liberation Army Hong Kong Garrison's Stonecutters Island Barracks.
According to Xinhua News Agency, the PLA Navy’s Qi Jiguang and Yimengshan ships will be berthed at Stonecutters Island Barracks on October 1st and 2nd and will be open to the public.
The naval task group, made up of Qi Jiguang and Yimengshan (Navy Task Group 83), carries over 1,200 naval cadets and officers. They set sail from a naval port in Dalian and a civilian port respectively, undertaking an ocean-going joint training mission. During the voyage, the ships will host open house activities in Hong Kong and make port calls to Cambodia, Thailand, and Singapore to carry out exchange and mutual learning activities with the navies of the host countries.

Yimengshan (hull number 988) is a Type 071 landing platform dock, with a displacement of more than 19,000 tons. It features a large tonnage, strong loading capacity, and long cruising range. It is capable of rapid, multidimensional, and flexible amphibious landing operations, as well as the transport of disaster relief supplies and provision of medical support.
