(Kuala Lumpur, 11th) Human Resources Minister Sim Chee Keong is on an official working visit to South Korea from today until Tuesday (13th) to attend the 7th APEC Human Resources Development Ministerial Meeting (HRDMM).
The Ministry of Human Resources statement indicated that Sim Chee Keong will lead the Malaysian delegation to Jeju Island to participate in the HRDMM meeting, which is being held for the first time in 11 years, with the last meeting held in Vietnam in 2014.
This meeting is held in conjunction with the APEC Summit, with the theme of sustainability in the labor market and future employment.
“The discussion in this meeting will revolve around two main topics, namely flexible and dynamic labor markets, and future employment challenges and proactive labor market policies.”
The Ministry stated that the participation of the Malaysian delegation in this HRDMM meeting signifies our continuous effort to promote cooperation and strengthen relations with APEC economic partners in the areas of human resources, labor, and social security.
Additionally, Sim Chee Keong will hold bilateral talks with the Thai Labor Minister Pipat and Hong Kong's Secretary for Labour and Welfare, Chris Sun, to explore bilateral strategic cooperation in labor and human capital development.
“The Human Resources Minister and his counterparts are expected to issue a joint ministerial statement. This covers topics such as Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), female labor force participation, empowerment of vulnerable groups, and employee safety and health.”
