Miri Artificial Lake Skate Park 3D Mural Unveiled: New Chapter in Shin Yang Group's CSR Project

(Miri, 7th) The Deputy Minister of Sarawak Tourism, Datuk Sebastian Ting Chiew Yew, attended the press conference announcing the launch of the 3D mural at the Bulatan Skate Park. He stated that the Shin Yang Group is actively involved in the beautification and enhancement of Miri Artificial Lake Park under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, showcasing the company's commitment to social care.

The 3D mural, created by local renowned artist Jagung and his team, has officially been unveiled at the skate park, injecting new life into the park. Deputy Minister Chen revealed that the basketball court is next in line for artistic beautification, making the entire park more unique and a new hotspot for leisure and sports activities for citizens.
He pointed out that since 2019, under his Piasau constituency's Rural Transformation Program (RTP), a total of RM1 million has been allocated for the enhancement of the artificial lake park, which includes RM300,000 for upgrading children's playground and outdoor fitness equipment; RM300,000 for enhancing the lighting system, park furniture, and trails; and RM400,000 for expanding the park utilizing adjacent state government land.

"The area was overgrown with weeds, with an abandoned mini football field and dilapidated public toilets, which I feared would cause security issues if left unaddressed, potentially leading to high-rise developments that would affect public space usage."

He said that at this critical moment, Shin Yang Group's Managing Director Datuk Ling Lu Khin proactively proposed assisting the municipal council in beautifying the park through CSR efforts, establishing a good example of government-private sector collaboration. In 2022, another RM600,000 was allocated to build a Pump Track cycling facility designed by Velosolutions, becoming the first of its kind in the country and attracting many cycling enthusiasts. In 2025, an additional RM420,000 will be used for the basketball court's roofing project.

"We are gradually transforming the artificial lake park into a multi-generational leisure center, including the newly completed skate park, the soon-to-be-completed botanical garden, and upgraded basketball court facilities."

He urged more companies to follow Shin Yang Group's lead by adopting and enhancing public facilities through CSR initiatives to jointly create a healthy, green, and vibrant Miri city.

"Let's work together to build a better Miri."
