Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar highlighted that the team led by the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) is still studying the impact of the latest US tariff measures on Malaysia's economy.
He mentioned in a Facebook post on Friday night (4th) that he chaired a National Geoeconomic Command Center (NGCC) meeting that afternoon.
He emphasized that Malaysia is committed to maintaining positive and progressive relationships with all trade partners, while also taking care of the interests and well-being of its people, businesses, and exporters.
“The impact of the latest US tariffs on our economy is still under assessment, with departments and agencies led by MITI undertaking this task.”
He stated that the authorities must carefully formulate any response and follow-up actions, and that there is room for discussion and dialogue with Malaysia's major trade partners.
