(Kuching, 9th) The Sarawak Public Works Department (JKR) reminds the public not to risk using the Southern Passage road at Kuching International Airport (KIA), as the road is still in the final inspection stage and is expected to officially open on September 13, 2025.
The Sarawak Public Works Department stated in a Facebook post that the road is currently undergoing final assessments and preparations to ensure it is safe for public use before its official opening.
During a site inspection yesterday, Sarawak Public Works Department Director Ir Dr Cassidy Morris said that this inspection is a necessary step to ensure the road meets safety standards before it can be opened.
He also reminded road users not to use the road without authorization before the official opening date.
This reminder is part of the Sarawak Public Works Department's efforts to ensure infrastructure projects meet safety and overall readiness standards before being handed over for public use.
The Southern Passage is expected to effectively alleviate the traffic flow to and from Kuching International Airport after its opening next week.
